QUOTE(Boli @ Oct 30 2004, 07:11)Do you actually see a reduction in temps with that setup... or are they pretty similar? It's the coolest-running athlon xp machine i've got I'm pretty sure i could knock the fan + pump speeds down even further, but I'm happy with the balance between temperature and noise that it currently has....

QUOTE([O-CuK]Marci @ Oct 29 2004, 10:49)Cos the hosting company that provides the servers has monitoring systems in place that track all users activities...I guess you'd have to take that up with gradwell.. it's not like they're a fly-by-night webhost; peter gradwell has sat on the nominet board in the recent past!...

QUOTE([O-CuK]Marci @ Oct 29 2004, 10:45)what tubing are you using?Clearflex iirc. I ended up adding more dye than was recommended, purely because it wasn't glowing. I kept adding a little bit more at a time, until i got bored with the fact it didn't seem to be making any difference ...

Forgot to mention.. the reason behind watercooling this rig was purely regarding noise levels. I live in a 1 bed flat so all my kit lives in the living room This box is on 24/7 and the mrs was getting more than a little cheesed off with how much noise the old box made.Although i'm pretty sure I'd have got a quiet air setup for a fraction of the price this system cost me, it wouldn't have been half as fun to do, plus I'd just received a bonus when I decided to do the watercooling, so it was then or never I've got the rad fans spinning at a quiet speed (via the rheobus) and also, the pump speed is _slightly_ decreased too.Temps are reasonably stable - cpu might wander up to 41 degrees on load (the server doesnt really get any hammer 99% of the time)...

Thought i ought to update the pics/situation on my v2000 Still not done much with the side, mucho thanks to steve for trying to arrange to get it done though I've written a little lcd client in TCL which connects to LCDproc for the Matrix Orbital. I wasn't bothered about all the rubbish most of the clients seem to spit out, so mine just tells me the temps Am a bit disappointed in how quickly the tubing went opaque; does tygon stuff last better in this respect?I'm also considering changing the water anyway - the 'bright orange' dye is about as uv-reactive as my behind any suggestions wrt which colour to try next?...

here we go..the idea was to transplant my linux server into a spangly new case and watercool it, although only the gf2, cpu and ram have actually made it across everything else is new kit (mobo was 2h) It's cost me an arm and a leg to do but has been fun so far!Still got to mount the hdds somewhere (the pump is in the way in the drive bay ) got to cut a window out of the side panel and also mount the cathode switches into a 5.25" blanking plate. Due to the innards not glowing enough, I might be dropping another uv tube in there too Bit gutted the red sleeving is glowing orange, and the bright orange uv dye is seemingly pink and doesnt glow much, but all in all I'm still quite happy with the result so far!Comments and suggestions more than welcome, oh, and thanks to p-...
