ok bear with me....i have a little home network...it works perfect....but today i added another IDE DRIVE to my server because the ordinal one was full...how do i allow the drive to be used on the network...the pcs on my network can see the new IDE drive but they cant access why!...on server its running xp pro fully updated...two of the pcs on the network run vista,and one pc runs xp pro.....

share the drive, using 'everyone' as the user.

now ive done that.and the other pc`s on the network can see the drive but they cant access it....says something like you need permision ask your admin...now do i have to do something on the other pc`s......must be stupid...

Have you tried logging out of the "client" PCs and logging back in again, it might be due to the new drive being added, but the "server" no re-logging in the users.

ok still have problems...im really confused now....everytime i try to access the drive from a networked pc..give that stupid message YOU DONT HAVE PERMISSION ASK YOUR ADMIN..BLAH BLAH BLAH...

Has the drive previously been used in another system (without formatting).
Are you trying to login to both machines using the same username ?
