No problems, had to enable Auto-Updates for Windows Update to work though. Ditched my Google Toolbar pop-up blocker as SP2 has it integrated now. ActiveX IE blocker a tad annoying, but in the name of security its fine by me.

I have seen no side effects of slowness or long boot up times as some have suggested/noticed/seen.

OH, Nero said it might not work - although it did. New Nero released to fix it, so only a download.

I've had exactly the same experience as dave, all positive so far. The ActiveX blocker is very irritating, but i'll live with it, and boot times/general seed are exactly the same as before. Have'nt had any programs messed up by it either.

Looks like they did a very good job to me.

I read that the SP2 firewall has security issues (already!!!), I don't use IE (I have Mozilla and Firefox installed). Firewall annoyingly protected my LAN connections and had to be disabled.

Apart from that the main benefit is a smaller list of fixes in Add/Remove Programs

No probs so far either, except when I tried to install it on a Windows installation with lots of stuff on. Probably not the best thing to do. Formatted and installed SP2 first! (I format and re-install Windows every few weeks anyway so it didn't bother me)

sp2 is best installed slipstreamed, which to any one who doesn't know is basically creating a boot disc using your existing xp disc plus putting sp2 on it so it installs that at the same time

phil have you got a 3rd party firewall? If so then tell the security control thingy you have one and it wont bother you happy.gif I've also heard that a 3rd party one is better than the sp2 one. I use Kerio home edition (free!! tongue.gif )

MS sent me the slipstreamed copy the other day. I would like to run it, but I need to make a damn copy that works with my damn SATA drives or find a way to install without giving myself a heart attack... wasted 20 cds last time I tried to do an SP2 slipstream -- there just weren't any drivers that would do it.

Look at the /servicepackfiles/ in the windows directory ... it's nearly 500 megs of wasted space!
